The four Ps of microlearning on the job, according to K. Kapp and R. Defelice in ATD’s Mircolearning Guide, are: > Performance-based – usually cognitive, such as just-in-time or point-of-need to do a routine task.
> Persuasion-based – usually affective such as convincing workers to use hand sanitizer before working in medical situations.
> Preparation-based – usually either cognitive or affective, such as getting ready for a larger learning event.
> Post-instruction microlearning – usually either cognitive or affective, such as follow-up which complements or reinforces a prior larger learning event.
In all of these microlearning experiences – a short piece of content delivered to a learner – may consist of nothing more than an infographic, an ap, or a quick, self-paced e-learning course.
