What is a baked badge?
4/15/2018
Baked badge is the colloquial term for a credentialing badge which is embedded with metadata regarding what the holder accomplished.  These are Open Badges designed to be in compliance with the Open Badges Specifications, a set of standards from Mozilla.  To be compliant, each baked badge contains:
> The badge’s topic of expertise
> The name of the badge’s recipient
> A description of the skills or achievements it represents
> A description of the specific criteria the recipient fulfilled to earn it
> The date the badge was issued
> The badge’s expiration date, if any
> A notice if the badge was revoked
> Tags that make the badge easier to find with online search tools and to categorize into the recipient’s Digital Backpack
> The name and details of the entity that issued it
> A link to evidence showing how the recipient met the badge’s criteria
> The web address (URL) of the issuing entity.
All badges issued by the Soft Technical Skills Institute at www.the-stsi.com exceed these standards.
