CTE historians consider the Smith-Hughes act as the foundation of secondary Vocational Education.
 
What goes around may come around.  According to the Assn. for Career & Tech Educ (ACTE), a bipartisan Senate Caucus is "focusing attention on CTE as a proven method for promoting America's continued economic growth and ensuring our students have the skills needed to succeed."  A "Smith-Hughes Act of 2017" may be just around the corner.
 
Learn more at publicpolicy@acteonline.org.  Contact the 21 members of the Senate Caucus to encourage them to reauthorize Perkins and pass new CTE legislation which includes soft technical skills that foster high-tech high-pay careers.
